To prep for when the course officially kicks off on July 18th, we’ve put together some fun pre-work for you.

Step 1: Visualizing your business and clients

Visualize the transformation you want to create for your clients - how do you want them to feel, what should they be able to do after working with you? Collect visuals to embody these ideas - create a physical or digital vision board.

Step 2: Word association

What words come to mind when you think about your mission, the problems you help your clients solve, and the kind of relationship you want to have with them? What do past clients say about working with you? Use the questions I cover in the video above to help with this. Notice any themes and jot these words down.

Step 3: Collecting inspiration

Collect inspiration on Pinterest or Instagram for any colors, images, phrases, or websites that speak to you. You’ll be getting templates and brand kits from us, so you can keep this process pretty loose (you don’t need to figure any of this out yourself), but this can help you collect your visual ideas in one spot.

Step 4: Brand photo shoot (optional but encouraged!)

Photos of you are a great way to make your website and brand feel high-end and custom, and they’re the perfect way to connect with customers, too. I highly recommend checking out our Brand Photo Shoot Guide for more information and to potentially plan a brand photo shoot for your website. Because photographers get busy, and if you’re shooting outside, weather can come into play, it’s a good idea to begin planning for this now.

Step 5: Securely Provide Us with Domain & Website Access

 In order for us to install your website (and perform your website migration, if you had a prior website), we need access to your domain (and if applicable, your current website too).

P.SIf you don’t have a domain yet: I highly recommend Google Domains to purchase your domain from. They’re reasonably priced, reliable, secure, and very user-friendly. 

Here are the steps for submitting your info:

  1. Go to the client portal
  2. Enter your email address (the one you used to sign up for the course) and your password, which is your first name and the year (i.e. mine is whitney2022)
  3. Click on the "DWS Website Access Form" and add your information
  4. Add any questions for us at the bottom of the form
  5. Hit submit! We'll be automatically notified, so no need for you to do anything further. (Please do this no later than July 15th).
